Understanding Modern Constitutional Law: Perspectives from the Left, Right, and Center
Maryland Law Review Spring 2023 Symposium
Friday, February 24, 2023
8:00 AM – 5:15 PM
University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law Ceremonial Courtroom
Description
With the appointment of several new Justices to the Supreme Court in just the last few years, the highest judicial body in the country has undergone an ideological swing. With that swing has come a slew of controversial opinions that have tested the foundational bedrock of well-established laws. While many disagree with these recent opinions, there are those who feel these decisions are in keeping with the judicial precedent.
Now, more than ever, it is important to have insightful, educated discussions about these issues, and to keep public discourse open and flowing. This symposium will bring together a diverse range of constitutional scholars from schools around the country, who will share their thoughts on recent opinions from the Supreme Court, the Court’s current viewpoint, and pressing constitutional issues facing the public.
