Aims & Scope

The Journal of Health Care Law & Policy (JHCLP) advances scholarship at the intersection of law, medicine, and health policy through rigorous interdisciplinary analysis. Our mission is to publish innovative research that addresses contemporary challenges in health law while offering practical solutions for practitioners and policymakers.

Despite the implications of our name, JHCLP does not limit its coverage to traditional health care law. We welcome scholarship on any issue that engages with law and policy in relation to health, broadly defined. This includes topics ranging from public health, ethics, and access to care, to financing, regulation, technology, and global health governance. The scope is intentionally wide, reflecting the many ways law intersects with individual and population health.

Editorial Standards
We publish original scholarship that demonstrates rigorous analysis, innovative thinking, and practical relevance to health law and policy. Manuscripts must employ law review–style footnotes in compliance with The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (22nd ed.) and should present solution-oriented analysis that contributes to the advancement of the field.

Publication Types

  • Peer-reviewed articles by academics, judges, and practitioners
