On August 8, 2016, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) began regulating the manufacture and sale of all tobacco products, including cigars, electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), and hookah. This session will take a closer look at the major requirements of the Deeming Rule and ways state and local governments can supplement federal regulation. The panelists will also highlight legal challenges to the Deeming Rule initiated by the tobacco industry, and what’s next for federal tobacco regulation under a new administration.
