Submissions

The Maryland Journal of International Law accepts manuscripts that are well-written and contain original analysis that contribute to legal scholarship as well as the general practice of international and comparative law.

Submission Instructions

Authors should submit their work via email to

Alternatively, authors may submit a paper copy of a manuscript to the Journal. Authors should submit electronically OR by mail, but NOT both. The Journal does not return submitted manuscripts to authors and is not responsible for lost manuscripts.

The Maryland Journal of International Law accepts submissions from academics, judges, and practitioners. Regarding student submissions, the Journal only accepts those written internally by our staff editors.

All submissions should include:

  • The author's e-mail address, mailing address, and daytime telephone number;
  • The author’s resume or curriculum vitae;
  • A brief abstract of the manuscript; and
  • A copy of the manuscript.

Submissions should be double-spaced, written in Times font size 12, and include numbered pages. Electronic submissions should appear in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or Adobe PDF (.pdf) format. Paper submissions should be printed on one side of the page only.

Citations in manuscripts should appear in footnotes (not endnotes) and should conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (19th ed. 2010).
